09-Apr-2018 Lead Analytics System Engineer United States Position Summary The Lead Analytics System Engineer for motion analytics will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, help us make smarter decisions and deliver better products & services. This position will be responsible for helping define advanced analytics road map and architectures within the Kinetix Motion Marketing organization. The primary focus will be to apply analytic methods to the Kinetix motion portfolio & machine learning techniques, perform statistical analysis, and build high quality prediction systems integrated within our products. The secondary focus will be conceptual application engineering that will be used in the proving of pre-conceptual system designs/architectures for the motion control platform. This position requires an understanding of the fundamental physical characteristics of motor/drive systems as well as experience in their practical application. Qualified candidates should have a broad base of system engineering knowledge including but not limited to Mechanical engineering principles, Control system design experience, electrical and software engineering and analytics. The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Analytics Platform Development Play a key role in the enabling technologies strategy for the analytics domain. Focused on full enterprise connectivity to our motion control products for maximum customer value and ease of use. Collaborating across business units, engaging with team members to understand needs across the Integrated Architecture. Formulating and documenting use-cases, turning them into requirements required to support a simplified workflows with our products. Technical evaluation and selection of analytic techniques, tools, processes and vendors for development of the Motion Analytics platform. Investigate and develop the application of machine learning techniques on variety of datasets to build & enhance predictive models. Development of processes and methodologies in conjunction with the Kinetix Development Engineering organization to efficiently collect organize and develop data for use in the area of Analytics. In conjunction with product marketing, coordinate with Kinetix development engineering organization to institute CPD activities that will ensure timely and accurate submission of analytic functionality into products within the motion portfolio. Help define NUD (New Unique & Difficult) and RAP (Rockwell Agile Projects) in the areas of Analytics. Conceptual Application Engineering Supports the pre-conceptual design activities in motion control architectures, including robotics, mechatronics, mathematical modeling, CIP Motion, analytics and advanced cam design. Support includes proof of concepts, system architecture review and recommendations, customer visits, and the creation of application notes and white papers. Technical Lead of 3rd Party Motor integration, strategy and support Helps with preparation of on-going competitive analysis and communication internally. EOE,M/F/DISABLE,VET Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology. Minimum of 12 years of demonstrated experience in technical field supporting or commissioning low-voltage drives or motion control products. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Experience with Rockwell Automation core products (i.e. PLCs, PACs, Motion Control, Drives, Operator Interface, Networking, and I/O). Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and other related test software. Systems troubleshooting ability, potentially utilizing telephone skills. Capable of using of personal computers and the appropriate applications, including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and OneNote.
