Dakota Electric Association Electrical Engineer I / II Dakota Electric Association (DEA), a growing customer-owned electric cooperative located just south of the Twin Cities in Farmington, Minnesota, has a full-time Electrical Engineering position available. This position works to maintain and improve the safety, reliability and overall economics of the electrical distribution system. This is done through the creation or maintenance of various engineering studies, material specifications, construction standards and technical standards. The studies & standards are used to support the field construction, distribution system design, equipment maintenance and the operation of the overhead distribution system. Duties include exploration and investigation of new technologies which may impact Dakota Electric s distribution system. Working with the system models and with the field crews identifies and works to correct problems with the distribution system. Designs and initiates changes to resolve these distribution system issues. This person prioritizes plans and organizes various significant projects for Dakota Electric. This position interacts with many areas within Dakota Electric and also works directly with the public and members to resolve their technical issues or meet their electrical needs. This position requires a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or BEE). A minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience in the distribution utility or related field is required for the Engineer I level. Successful completion of the fundamentals in Engineering exam is required. Degreed Electrical Engineers with less experience will be considered.
