The Vital Images Clinical Applications Team is responsible for creating elegant, intuitive workflows that provide visualization and analysis tools used by medical personnel to efficiently determine accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for their patients. Our inputs are raw images from CT and MRI scanners. Our software produces highly processed, interactive images rendered in two and three dimensions that highlight anatomical features, measure pathologies, and give doctors a deep understanding of large amounts of data.
Your role as Senior Software and Algorithm Engineer is to lead product road map and research projects. You will come up with software designs of core components and lead the development effort. Your duties will be to develop, implement, and validate solutions to problems that deal with medical volumetric image data. You will also produce and apply state-of-the-art techniques in solving a wide variety of interesting problems in medical imaging. Typical problems include identification and segmentation of certain organs or parts of organs, detection of abnormalities, rigid and non-rigid registration, and analysis of temporal data. You will also be expected to implement well-designed and efficient low level algorithms and libraries.
- Masters of Science in Computer Science or related field (PhD preferred)
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in C++
- 5+ years of experience in computer vision, pattern recognition and machine learning techniques
- Experience in parallel programming, multithreading, GPGPU, OpenMP, SSE
- The ability to create well-designed interfaces to software libraries and specialized data structures
- A strong portfolio of related publications and/or patents preferred
- Strong understanding of data structures and complexity; strong debugging and optimization skills
- Solid background in Mathematics, especially in probability, statistics, geometry, calculus, and linear algebra
This person must be in the Greater Minneapolis and St. Paul area to work at the Vital Images, Inc. headquarters office in Minnetonka, MN.
