In this new engineering role, you will work closely with sales and product managers to build out and support one of the largest aftermarket waterjet component companies in the world. As a Mechanical Engineer, y ou will have a direct impact on the re-engineering of products, dimensional analysis, material analysis, operational benchmark testing, and project management. You will also work side by side with our R&D technical staff to contribute to technology development and set up and run experimental test plans on large hydraulically driven intensifier pumps generating water pressures up to 90,000 psi. You will also help with engineering product development initiatives and continuation engineering using SolidWorks, Excel, Oracle, AutoCAD, along with other software packages. Ways your work will have an impact: * Assist and contribute to product line expansion planning for aftermarket waterjet part development * Support engineering initiatives and continuation engineering using SolidWorks and other engineering skills and tools * Manage internal and external resources to collect dimensional and chemical test data * Set up and conduct lab and field test plans to validate engineering efforts including the use of test and data acquisition equipment; including software * Compile and format data using analysis. Provide unbiased analytical insights on testing progress and findings. * Manage multiple small and mid-size projects simultaneously. Education/Experience: * BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required and 5+ years of related experience. * Experience working in a testing lab or other testing environment is a definite plus. * Excellent organizational and analytical skills * Conscientious and self-driven * Knowledge of machining techniques and process * Knowledge of coatings and material processing techniques * Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills * Ability to understand and interpret complicated schematics, blueprints, bills of materials, assemblies, and drawings * Intermediate knowledge of SolidWorks and GD&T dimensioning * Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) * Data analysis experience using Excel or Minitab * Understanding of Design of Experiments Location: New Brighton, Minnesota Hypertherm is an Equal Opportunity Employer and value diversity in our company.
