Job Description:

The Engineering Manager - Contracts and Billing acts as a technical leader for application development. This role leads the delivery of capabilities, leads the technical direction, drives upgrades/updates to platforms, and promotes technology innovations. The job holder must partner closely with 3rd party providers as part of a seamless IT organization chartered to deliver IT capabilities.

This position has a team of associates and/or 3 rd parties in both functional and technical roles. This role is the leader of delivery teams, providing direction and managing delivery with high quality and on time. In addition, this role is responsible for staffing delivery teams with top talent. The ability to continuously innovate and implement leading development practices are critical to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities include:

Delivery Excellence

  • Drive high quality, on time, on budget delivery of capabilities to enable business outcomes

  • Motivate teams and create a high energy, positive environment

  • Leverage agile practices for a flexible model that’s highly responsive to changing business needs

  • Manage a mix of associates and 3 rd party team members

Technical Leadership

  • Define and lead the technical direction of capabilities

  • Drive technical excellence in delivery

  • Coach and mentor development team members

  • Implement and drive adoption of leading tools and automation

  • Influence capability roadmap to include technical upgrades and innovations

  • Provide delivery effort estimates

  • Define and lead development team staffing strategy

  • Select and retain top technical talent

Industry Subject Matter Expertise

  • Provide technical knowledge and subject matter expertise on capabilities

  • Engage in industry and community to maintain and grow expertise

  • Understand consumers use and perception of technology delivered

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Constantly look for and implement improvements to drive quality, speed, and efficiency

  • Lead innovation by learning new opportunities and finding ways to rapidly assess value

  • Continuously identify and implement technology improvements and innovations

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of IT systems management and/or application delivery of large scale platform implementation

  • 5+ years of experience leading teams

  • 5+ years of experience with 3rd party vendor relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Agile development methodology

  • Experience with any Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine, OpenStack, Rackspace)

  • Experience with Docker containers and orchestration platforms such as ECS, Kubernetes, Mesos and/or Swarm

  • Experience with cloud implementation of microservices

  • Experience implementing large IT initiatives
